Choral Music Repertoire Reading Session with Vytautas Miškinis


 
 

Who better to talk about the musical compositions of Vytautas Miskinis than the man himself!!

Come December '09, YMS brings Lithuania's celebrated composer and conductor Vytautas Miskinis to Singapore for a week, culminating in a celebration concert at the Esplanade Concert Hall, on 13 Dec, with the SYC Ensemble Singers at their 45th Anniversary Concert - " SYC & Friends"! While here, Miskinis will present a workshop on Lithuanian Choral Music, with a focus on his own compositions. He will discuss repertoire and various aspects of Lithuanian choral music and explore the nuances that make this music "Lithuanian".

Venue : Choral Studio, YMS Arts Centre (54 Waterloo Street)
Fee : $100 per participant (materials and light refreshments will be provided)

Kodály Seminar Asia - Bringing Kecskemét to You!

» The course is primarily offered for music pedagogues and choral conductors, but other interested parties are welcome too!

Why sign up for this?
» Enhanced knowledge of the compositions and educational philosophy of Zoltán Kodály
» Knowledge of application of the Kodály Concept of Music Education - musicianship, vocal and choral training – from primary to advanced levels

Who will teach you?
» Lessons designed and taught by Dr László Norbert Nemes - Principal of the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, Kecskemét
» Jennifer Tham – Artistic Director of YMS and Conductor of SYC Ensemble Singers – will conduct relevant modules
» Additional teachers will be appointed from both the Kodály Institute and locally to facilitate the expanded classes for Levels 2 & 3

What will you get at the end of the seminar?
» Certification for each level completed (issued by the Kodály Institute, Kecskemét)
» Successfully complete all three levels to obtain the Kodály Certificate in Music Education
(the cumulative content of the three levels aim at covering material for musicianship, choral conducting and methodology of the General Diploma Course at the Kodály Institute)

NB
1. Certification for this Seminar is issued with and recognised by the Kodály Institute (Kecskemét) when applying for the MA in Kodály Music Pedagogy at the Institute.
Certification from this seminar will not necessarily translate to a transfer of credits when applying for music-related courses at all other universities and institutes

1. Fee includes all course materials and refreshments
2. Subsequent seminars are scheduled for November 2010 and November 2011, with an option for June 2010 (tbc), enabling full certification within 1 to 2 years, with periods of practical application in-between seminars


Accommodation (for regional participants)
YMS has existing relations with hotels/hostels in this vicinity with negotiated rates (ranging from SGD80 to SGD150 nett for twin share)
